What is 3g Technology

3G is a third generation cellular Technology. Before going to know about 3G we should know about GPRS and EDGE Technology. So, let's take short idea about GPRS and EDGE from below:

What is GPRS
GPRS is a short form of General Packet Radio Service. It is packet based communication service. It is also known as 2.5g. Still now many smart phone has been using this technology in many countries including USA. Maxumum speed of this technology is 144Kbps.

What is EDGE
EDGE is a short form of Enhanced Data GSM Environment. The maximum speed of GPRS is three times higher than GPRS and it is 384Kbps. Many smartphone users in USA are using this EDGE protocol to enjoy multimedia programs.

What is 3G

3G is a short  form of Generation 3 or third generation Cellular technology. It is the latest and world wide used high speed mobile network technology though some countries are already familiarized by 4G technology. Maximum Data transfer speed of 3G network is 10Mbps.

There are different types of protocol are used in different countries under 3G technologies. They are Universal Mobile Telecommunication Service (UMTS) Wideband Code-Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) Evolution Data Maximized (EVDO)
