Anthrax

Anthrax is a great concern for Bangladesh at this moment. People are worry about their health and life. Until Friday Sep 17, 2010 according weekly holiday news total anthrax affected people in five districts around the country stood at 337, as per the government's count. But it is assuming that the number of anthrax attacked victims will be higher.

What is Anthrax- Anthrax is a diseases caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis. The disease can be transmitted to humans through contact with contaminated animal substances such as meat, blood, hair, feces, bones or hides, and it may lead to death from respiratory or cardiac complications (within 1 – 2 days if acute), or the animal may recover if the proper vaccine is used. Early Diagnosis and treatment is important to protect this diseases.

Bangladesh is a poor country. People in this country like to eat beef. Several hundreds of thousands of cow are slaughtered everyday to meet public demand of meat in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is not capable to produce enough cattle for its population . That's why most of the animals specially cow, buffaloes are imported legally or illegally from India.

On the otherhand most of the Hindu people do not eat beef. So, India has found a good market to export cow to Bangladesh. Due to proper supervising and illegal boarder smuggling with India it is assuming that this anthrax virus could come from India.

As a conscious citizen we are worry about this freightened diseases anthrax. Respective division of BD GOVT should take proper action to stop to spread this diseases. Careless tendency are found in every field of government. But anthrax attack should be treated seriously. This anthrax issue can effect on overall economic and public health situation.

However, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas said "there is no reason to be panicked. Although the ongoing anthrax is now under control, we've taken maximum cautionary measures to control the disease,"

Government should provide enough anthrux vaccine in affected area . They can take International help to protect this serious cattle diseases. They should broadcast anthrax news in Radio, Television, newspaper, Internet, mobile sms and other mass media to make awareness among general public.
