Student Unrest in Dhaka

Students are protesting against government to get better safety of their life in the road. Recently the road accidents have been increased tremendously in Bangladesh. Approximately almost twenty peoples are dyeing  daily from the road accident. The private organisation Bangladesh Commuters’ welfare Association said at least 7,397 people were killed in 2017.

Recently dieing of two college students near the Kormitola Armed Forces Hospital at Airport road by bus accident has crossed the students patient. Since the die of two college students the college and high school students are protesting against government to establish justice against this criminal activities of drivers in the road.

High way accident can be accepted but accident in Dhaka city is not expected by the Dhaka dwellers. Lack of implementation of traffic rules, corruption of traffic police, mismanagement of roads and highway department, poor arrangement for bus passengers by ministry of communications, lack of spaces for bus stoppage, lack of proper license of the drivers, lack of tents for passengers, lack of training for bus drivers from BRTA, unfitness of buses, expired engines of buses,  uncontrolled of bus's speed,lack of zebra crossing, lack of speed breaker, no fixed lane for bus movement etc. are the major causes among others of road accident in Dhaka city.

Right now the student dissatisfaction has been fired into explosion. It is a deep expression of students as well as dissatisfaction of the people of Bangladesh towards transport system in Bangladesh. Transport is the most worst condition in Dhaka. Specially local transport in Dhaka is most neglected sector.

Vehicle's speed is not controlled by the law enforcement agency here in Dhaka. This school college student movement in Dhaka is reminding us for urgent development of transport system as well as speed control of vehicle should be monitored on urgent basis.

Transport owners cooperation, political leaders commitment and police forces pledges can jointly can solve  this crisis easily. To stay in the power it is urgent for the BD government to take care of this road safety demanding  issue raised by the students seriously.

Another problem of accident in Dhaka city is lack of  establishment of  justice for killers or bus drivers in the city. Many sensitive accidents have been occurred in the last few months but respecting government agencies has showed zero performance to provide punishment for the culprit.

It really frustrated the Dhaka dwellers. People's life is not secured here. Drivers drive buses without following traffic rules. Traffic police is most responsible to look after this issue. People are loosing their faith towards traffic police due to their negligence in the traffic control system in Dhaka.

People's life have been paralyzed for the last seven days.  Bangladesh has been loosing millions of dollars each day  due to heavy traffic jam in Dhaka and transport strike throughout the country. This kind of disturbances will interfere to achieve government's millennium goal.

We do not want to  see the continuation of  this frightened situation in Dhaka. We hope government will take urgent and peaceful solution to get rid of this unexpected  accident in Dhaka. They will come ahead to sit in discussion table with students, teachers, guardians, transport owners and transport labor leaders soon to stop student's unrest in Dhaka.
